Presenter:  Dr. Kazuioshi Minami

Bio

Dr. Minami holds an MS and PhD degrees in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Tulsa. He worked for Petrobras in Brazil and also in the US from 1978 to 2016, having occupied several positions, from research scientist, project leader, program coordinator and technical manager, all in the area of artificial lift and fluid flow. He has spend about half of his career investigating offshore subsea production, in special flow assurance. He has just retired from Petrobras.

Abstract

Historical view from Minami's perspective will address evolution of what today is known almost as a discipline, from the Campos Basin (Brazil) development experiences to where we stand today. A parallel will be made with Gulf of Mexico development. How industry evolved from shallow waters to ultra-deepwaters and how wax and hydrates prediction, prevention and correction were handled will be discussed. A look to some interesting field cases will be highlighted.
