PetroBowl®

SPE’s flagship competition matches SPE Student Chapter teams against one another in a fast-paced quiz competition covering technical and non-technical aspects of the oil and gas industry. Teams from six regional qualifiers are seeded through to the final. Competitions take place in the Asia Pacific, Africa, Europe, Middle East, North America and South America and Caribbean before the final which takes place at the Annual Technical Conference and Exhibition (ATCE).

Please remember that this is a competition for Student Chapters, therefore students and university faculty cannot apply for these roles.

Eligibility

PetroBowl® Judges must be:

  • Experienced Professional SPE Members in good standing
  • Preferred previous experience in PetroBowl or similar style contests
  • Good overall knowledge of the oil and gas industry
  • Effective communicator
  • Available on Monday 30 September 2019 to participate in the event
  • Be able to attend training calls in advance of the contest

PetroBowl® Question Reviewers must be:

  • Good technical experience (preferably in multiple fields)

Once trained, judges will work with other judges and question reviewers to ensure all questions are suitable for the contest. This role will not involve creating questions, but existing ones may need to be amended to be made suitable.
For those available for the Championship itself, judges will be asked to take turns monitoring the game to ensure rules are kept to and adjudicate any appeals to the questions or answers given.
