PetroBowl®
SPE’s flagship competition matches SPE student chapter teams against one another in a fast-paced quiz competition covering technical and non-technical aspects of the oil and gas industry. Teams may compete in World-Cup style competition that will see them compete in equal size pools and then advance to the semifinals and finals; dependent on the number of teams participating.
North America Regional Qualifiers
The North America Regional Qualifiers is for SPE Student Chapters that are in Canada, the United States of America and Mexico. For 2024, the competition will be conducted in-person in Los Angeles California on Saturday February 22, 2025.
Time Commitment
Judges will be required to be online for a large portion of the day on Saturday 22 February.
Eligibility
Preference will be given to experienced professionals and those who would be able to help judge the contest all day. However, if you're only available in the morning, you may still be contacted.
Please remember that this is a competition for Student Chapters, therefore students and university faculty cannot apply for these roles. Other volunteer roles are available for those who wish to still take part in the regional virtual competition.
PetroBowl® Judges must be:
- Experienced Professional SPE Members in good standing
- Preferred previous experience in PetroBowl or similar style contests
- Good overall knowledge of the oil and gas industry
- Effective communicator
- Available to be on site at the University of California Campus on Saturday 22 February
Moderators must be:
- Experienced in comparable roles of presenter/master of ceremony for programs or events of similar format
- Confident English speaker, including technical industry terms
- Familiarity with the PetroBowl program and format is advantageous
- Available to be on site at the University of California Campus on Saturday 22 February
Please note that as this is a volunteer role, no funding or support can be provided for your participation in PetroBowl. Additionally, you will require stable internet access for the duration of the competition.
