Technical Reviewer for SPE Journals

SPE peer-reviewed journals utilize volunteer technical reviewers to review papers submitted to our prestigious journals. 

Eligibility and Qualifications
This opportunity is open to professionals interested in technical reviewing for SPE’s four peer-reviewed journals who meet specific criteria:

• Three years of industry or academic experience
• At least three published papers in high quality journals
• Broad understanding of current technologies in a specific discipline
• Time and commitment to support the process (approximately 4-6 hours to perform a review)
• Technical reviewers are not required to be SPE members

Expectations:

• Review technical papers submitted to SPE and select those that will be published in SPE’s technical journals–SPE Drilling & Completion, SPE Journal, SPE Production & Operations, and SPE Reservoir Evaluation & Engineering.
• Required to possess professional and ethical behavior during and after the review.
• Expected to provide specific comments in support of their recommended decision and to provide sufficient detail that an author will understand any changes being requested or the rationale for the decision.
• Expected to complete the review assignment within the allotted timeframe, provide a fair and unbiased review of the paper, and uphold the confidentiality of the single-blind review process.

• The application process requires volunteers to upload a Resume/CV and current publication listing when completing the application.
• Candidates will be notified by 1 August of acceptance, and will begin service on 1 September.
