About this role
This opportunity is open for volunteers to Judge our prestigious International Student Paper Contest. This will take place on Tuesday, 25 September at ATCE in Dallas, TX USA. Some preparation work will be required before the event.

SPE coordinates 14 regional student paper contests around the world at the Undergraduate, Master's, and PhD levels. The international contest brings the winners from each division in each region to present together on a global stage. We require at least four Judges and one Moderator to help run each division. We require at least four judges for each division, which is a total of 12 judges that day.

Judges are expected to:

  • Review abstracts in advance of the contest (teleconferences may be scheduled to discuss this among the group)
  • Participate in volunteer briefing session(s) as required in advance of the contest
  • Participate on the day of the contest to observe the presentations and mark the students based on criteria provided
  • Ask any questions of the student following the presentation
  • Discuss any tie-breaker situations with the other judges to agree on a winner
  • Provide students with feedback to assist them with the continuous development of their presentation skills
  • Participate in debriefing session(s) as needed following the contest

For further detail on the contests you can visit the Student Paper Contest webpage.
