Abstract:
Thailand is a net energy importer, relying on external sources to power its growing economy. As domestic energy supplies decline, the need for imported energy will increase unless new resources are developed. To attract and incentivize diverse energy development, Thailand must create a favorable environment for both traditional fossil fuels and renewable energies. All energy sources are necessary, and they all will have to be cleaner to protect our environment.
The global shift towards renewable energy is inevitable, and the speed of Thailand's transition will depend on technological advancements and cost-effectiveness. Natural gas is expected to remain a crucial energy source in the coming decades.
This presentation will address the challenges Thailand faces in securing safe, reliable, affordable, and clean energy, including the role of energy companies such as Chevron, and potential enablers in solving these great challenges of our times. This challenge is too big for anyone to overcome by themselves; that's why collaboration between energy companies, policymakers, government agencies, and the industry is essential to address these challenges and to achieve a sustainable energy future.
