Abstract:
The evolution of sand control methods in the oil and gas industry highlights the shift toward efficiency, cost reduction, and uninterrupted production. This presentation aims to provide an example of how to establish a baseline for selecting effective sand control methods specific to Southeast Asia's unique reservoir characteristics. The analysis is based on case histories from multiple countries within the region, comparing sub-optimum selection towards successful implementations.
The talk will entail ranges of approaches covering from early to late stages of production life, including, No Sand Control, Open Hole Gravel Packing, Cased Hole Gravel Packing (Includes Frac Pack), Standalone Screens, Chemical or Mechanical Treatment, Thru-Tubing Gravel Packing (Inside Production String).
Case histories and Lessons learned will be elaborated from an aspect of sand control success and failure as a relationship towards reservoir characteristics across Southeast Asia. Recommendations will be discussed, especially how to address region-specific challenges for optimized methods in consideration with various geological conditions.
In conclusion, the evolution of sand control in SEA shall prioritizes single-zone completions to enhance production, reduce costs, and decrease non-productive time. By leveraging insights from regional case histories, this talk shall provide actionable recommendations for improving sand control strategies across diverse reservoirs.
