Abstract:

Operating in the Oil & Gas sector carries unique challenges, especially when addressing the health and safety of workers on-site. The speaker will cover on the review of Offshore Medical Emergencies in Southeast Asia highlighting,

  • Review of Cases managed Offshore in Southeast Asia.
  • Data from actual Emergency Medevac cases done in the year 2023 was reviewed.
  • The data show ratio of Medical Cause verses Injury Causes (ratio of 7:3) for Emergency Medevac done for Offshore Oil and Gas.

The data also discussed on the breakdown of Medical Cases and show the top 3 category diagnosis as Cardiovascular, Gastrointestinal and Neurological.

 

In addition, a comparison was also done on the injury cases sustained Offshore using IADC data and International SOS data to show the most affected anatomical part of the body sustained from injuries working Offshore. Review of cases managed offshore will provide insights to build operation procedure increasing offshore drilling safety standard, reduce medical costs, enhance HSE performance and maximize productivity.

Bio:

Dr Chan oversees the assistance services provided by International SOS Assistance Centers in Southeast Asia. Dr Chan leads a team of doctors and nurses within Assistance Centers and at remote medical sites in the region to deliver quality medical advisory and clinical services.

Dr Chan started her career at International SOS Malaysia in 2016, providing health advisory and solutions for organizations that have employees or individuals around the world, and also working closely with remote Site Medical Teams in looking after patients in offshore and remote locations.
