Abstract:
Having recently completed 4 weeks of continuous testing at NORCE Ullrig facility, on behalf of NZTC and the 8 Major Operator Wells Decommissioning Collaboration, we discuss the rapidly developing Through Tubing Logging for well barrier analysis technology space. We will explain the significance of the measurement, in terms of facilitating well abandonment and how other significant New Technology developments and ongoing testing fit into the total solution. Using a real life example we will then review how Through Tubing Logging enabled a >$100 MM USD saving potential, while halving CO2 emissions for a subsea field abandonment. This technology is equally relevant to evaluation of cement as a barrier as it is for squeezing/creeping natural barriers, and can unlock huge risk and cost reduction.
