Equinor is currently on an ambitious path towards improving both quality and efficiency throughout its subsurface value chains. At the heart of this transformation lies utilizing modern digital technologies such as fast and easy-to-use cloud native applications and advanced machine learning and AI capabilities. All of this require performant access to high-quality analytics ready data in cloud.
This presentation will try to cover some of the success stories so-far, highlight how we work towards liberating subsurface data as well as showcasing a few modern cloud applications that are already widely used across the company. There will also be discussions around some of the key challenges and the importance of subsurface knowledge and collaboration across disciplines.
Biography:
Eirik Øverland Dischler is heading up the Subsurface Data Delivery (SDD) unit responsible for making subsurface data available in cloud and ensuring necessary data quality and alignment. After graduating from NTNU in 2006 with a Master in Technical Physics he joined Equinor (then Statoil) as a Corporate Trainee. He has since worked mostly as a geophysicist within research and exploration assets, but in recent years become increasingly involved in digital projects.
