The Andrew Field Decom: A New Chapter in North Sea

With more than two decades of global experience, Cochran has led engineering, commissioning, operations, and decommissioning activities across energy projects in the UK and internationally. He has worked with operators, major contractors and consultancies, and is a Chartered Engineer and IChemE member.

Abstract:

The decommissioning of mature North Sea assets presents a complex set of technical, commercial and organisational challenges. As production declines and assets approach end of life, operators face increasing pressure to execute safe, efficient, and cost-effective decommissioning programmes - while maintaining regulatory compliance and protecting long-term value.

In this presentation, Cochran McLeod, Consultancy Manager at THREE60 ENERGY, will discuss the recently awarded Andrew Field Decommissioning project, highlighting how an evolved mindset, integrated project structure, and collaborative operating model are redefining how decommissioning is delivered in the basin. The session will examine why decommissioning demands a fundamentally different mindset from traditional E&P projects, exploring how resource and capability constraints, legacy infrastructure, and commercial frameworks create unique challenges - and why conventional delivery models often fail to deliver value in late-life operations.

Cochran will demonstrate how THREE60 Energy and AF Decom are leveraging complementary capabilities through collaborative operating models, early engagement, and flexible contracting strategies to enhance project performance and deliver sustainable value across the decommissioning lifecycle.

Following the presentation, a networking dinner will offer the perfect chance to discuss ideas, collaborate, and expand your professional network.
