Nova Smart Subsea Development

Abstract
The Nova field will be Wintershall Dea’s fourth subsea field in operation when it comes on stream in 2021. By specializing in the utilization of existing infrastructure through subsea development, Wintershall Dea chooses smart sustainable solutions that can extend the lifetime of surrounding fields, unlock future tie-in opportunities and positively impact emissions.
Wintershall Dea and its partners Capricorn, Spirit and Edison, are also using smart technology to maximise development and operation. As a tie-in to the Gjøa platform in the North Sea, Nova will take power from shore, while also employing smart technology to improve drilling efficiency, improve efficiency in operations, and help prolong the lifetime of the field. Nova is being developed via two subsea templates consisting of three production wells and three water injectors.
Dennis L. Dickhausen will present the Nova development, the technology used in the different project phases, and the newly merged company Wintershall Dea.
Bio
After working for several contractors, Dennis L. Dickhausen began his career as pipeline engineer in Statoil (now Equinor) in 1998. During his 12 years at Statoil he had several roles within subsea development and subsea operations. He also worked as department manager, within international business development, and was seconded to Norsk olje og gass to lead the NCS Lifeboat Project. In 2010 Dickhausen joined Wintershall where he took the company’s first operated development Maria from discovery to production as the project’s Subsea Manager. Currently Dickhausen is Vice President for Wintershall Dea’s Nova project.
