This was a great opportunity for young professionals to expand their knowledge on what is process safety and why and how we manage process safety efficiently.” said Mike Gunningham Program Chair of SPE Qatar Section, Head of Subsurface Support Team, Maersk Oil Qatar.
The title of the presentation was “Process Safety Management Fundamentals”, presented by Mr. Dr. Luc Véchot - an assistant professor of chemical engineering at Texas A&M University at Qatar and the Managing Director of the Mary Kay O'Connor Process Safety Center – Qatar.
The presentation gave an overview of the principles and practices of process safety management through a historical review of incidents that defined process safety. The concept of risk assessment and their application in the oil and gas industry was also explained in details by the speaker.
