Muhammad Laghari is a Managing Director in Citi’s Global Energy Investment Banking Group with over ten years of investment banking experience. Mr. Laghari focuses on strategic advisory assignments and financings, predominantly for companies in the upstream sector of the global oil and gas industry. Prior to Citi, Mr. Laghari worked for Barclays Capital as a Vice President, Investment Banking in its Global Natural Resources group.
Mr. Laghari’s experience includes a broad range of strategic advisory and capital markets engagements. He has led more than 50 transactions totaling over $118 billion in value and spanning North America, South America, Africa, Asia and Europe.
Notable transactions include: Strategic Advisory: Occidental’s $58bn acquisition of Anadarko, Encana’s $7.7bn acquisition of Newfield, BHP Billiton’s sale of its onshore US assets to BP for $10.5bn, Roan’s $1.0bn sale to Citizen, Devon’s sale of it’s Citizen’s joint venture with Linn to form Roan, Chisholm’s acquisition of Gastar, Daylight’s C$3.1bn sale to Sinopec, Riverstone / Silver Run’s $1.6bn purchase of Centennial, Vanguard on its $539mm merger with LRR Energy

Mr. Laghari earned an M.A. in Financial Risk Management from the Segal Graduate School of Business at Simon Fraser University and graduated with Honors from Lahore University of Management Sciences with a B.Sc. in Economics and a minor in Mathematics. He is also a CFA charterholder. He and his wife Nadia, reside in Houston with their daughter Lyla.
