Dear SPE Northern Emirates Section Members,
SPE NE Section is a home to more than 856 Oil and Gas community members from Dubai, Sharjah, Al Ain, Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah. We are excited to announce that we have been awarded the Section Excellence Award for 2021.
This prestigious award is the second highest honor a section may receive and is awarded to only 20% of eligible sections around the world.
The award is in recognition of our section’s hard work and strong programs in industry engagement, operations and planning, community involvement, professional development, and innovation.
None of this could have been possible without the support of local National Oil Companies (NOC), International Oil Companies (IOC) and Service firms support in terms of member engagement, technical presenters, and monetary funds for event management.
For 2020-2021, we had the pleasure of enthusiastic and goal driven committee members who contributed their time and effort to pull off amazing Technical Events and collaborated with SPE Sections in Asia Pacific, Europe, and North America.
SPE NE Diversity & Inclusion committee has played its vital role in engaging with “Women in Energy” in middle east region and conducted several technical and soft skill webinars. We look forward to more events and member engagement in 2021-2022.
The SPE Gaia Sustainability Program, created by our HSE and Sustainability technical discipline, aims to enable all individuals in the oil and gas industry to act in the service of sustainable socio-economic development through their professional societies—empowering those at all levels within organizations to create actions to address the planet’s sustainability challenges. We at SPE NE has formed a sub-committee to work as focal point for ME Region and we are looking forward to contribute.
In addition to conventional O&G technical disciplines, we are striving hard to put spotlight on Energy Transition initiatives in Middle East region. In Q3-Q4, 2021, we are arranging panel discussions and technical webinars to focus on GeoThermal, Carbon Capture and Storage, Hydrogen Fuel, Non-Metallics and Renewables.
We encourage you to become SPE members, volunteer in any capacity to give back to your oil and gas society, extend mentorship to young professionals and students in Northern Emirates and do your part. Together, we did weather the storm before, and we can again ride the tide.
SPE NE team is contributing on different sub committees for SPE ATCE (https://www.atce.org/) ADIPEC (https://www.adipec.com/) and IPTC 2022 (https://2022.iptcnet.org).
We are looking forward to host SPE Presidents, SPE Regional Directors, SPE MENA Region Section Chairpersons and senior delegates from NOCs, IOCs and service sector for a VIP Gala dinner on 21st September 2021.
