Top 10 Lessons Learned from a 38 Year Career with Chevron as a Petroleum Engineer
I will review my career history and share my top ten lessons learned from working in many varied oil and gas operations around the world. While there have been many innovations and improvements in technology, many core principles persist which should guide aspiring new petroleum engineers.
Steve retired from Chevron after working 38 years as a Petroleum Engineer, asset manager and subsurface project manager. His experience includes gravel packing research, reservoir simulation, steam and CO2 injection EOR, field development planning, and project management, with work assignments in California, Texas, Indonesia, Nigeria and Australia, and extensive travel worldwide.
Steve has BS & MS degrees in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Southern California. He is a Distinguished Member of SPE having received the Cedric Ferguson Medal in 1984, and was co-chair for the Technical Program Committee for the 2018 Western Regional Meeting.
