BJ Services – The Re-born of a Legendary Pressure Pumping Company for North America Land
Director of Technology
Founded by Byron Jackson in 1872, BJ Services is the leading pressure pumping services provider in North America. Headquartered in Tomball, Texas, the company is equipped with 2.2 million hydraulic horsepower and operates in all major oil and gas basins in North America.
The low oil price environment over the last years has greatly changed the landscape of the shale plays in North America. Companies have increasingly adopted drilling and completion practices that optimizes production and reduces operational cost at the same time.
This presentation will provide an overview of BJ Services as the newly emerged pure play in pressure pumping as well as current market trends which include more horizontal wells, increased lateral length, larger sand and fluid volumes as well as tighter well and perforation spacing. The shift in drilling and completion practice present both challenges and opportunities and the author will discuss how BJ Services is addressing both from cultural, technology development and operation execution.
Dan Fu has served as the Director of Technology in BJ Services since January 2017. He has over 20 years of experience in strategic planning, developing and commercializing innovative technologies with specialties in product development, project management, hydraulic fracturing, acidizing and lost circulation control.
Prior to joining the company, Mr. Fu spent almost 20 years at Schlumberger working in various technical and management roles, including Senior Development Engineer, Program Manager, and Technology Manager.
Mr. Fu holds a Bachelor in Chemistry from Beijing University, Ph.D in Chemistry from the University of Southern California, and an MBA from Colorado State University.
Mr. Fu has more than 50 patent and patent applications and 40 technical publications.
