Description

Abstract:

Sand production is an important flow assurance concern encountered in existing as well as new oil and gas pipelines. In spite of the sand control/management techniques implemented down-hole, fine sand (less than 50-75 microns) often may find its way into the piping components of onshore, offshore, and subsea facilities. At low flow velocities, sand accumulation and blockage are a concern. At high velocities, erosion/wear and subsequent pipeline integrity issues are a concern. This presentation will focus on discussing Tridiagonal teams research on sand transport, erosion and erosion-corrosion in field scale test facilities.

Short Bio: Damo Vedapuri

Damo Vedapuri is the President and Head of North American Operations at Tridiagonal Solutions. He has around 20 years of experience in solving a wide range of fluid flow problems in the Oil & Gas industry. His specific area of expertise is in multiphase flows. At Tridiagonal he leads a team of Chemical and Mechanical Engineers focused on solving fluid flow problems using both CFD and experimental techniques. Prior to co-founding Tridiagonal, Damo has held positions as Program Manager at the Southwest Research Institute and Account Manager for the Chemical and Consumer Product team at ANSYS FLUENT. He graduated from the Institute of Corrosion and Multiphase Technology at Ohio University with a Ph.D. degree in Chemical Engineering.
