Abstract:

Today’s upstream problems have become too complex for traditional static analysis techniques. Unconventional reservoirs require new alternative methods better equipped to tackle the challenges faced by oil & gas engineers and scientists. The ability to uncover key predictors of shale oil production rates, determine the relationships between complex reservoir parameters and optimize operations for maximum efficiency is critical to the industry’s top producers.

Survival analysis is a technique popular for providing scientists and engineers’ insights into the occurrence of notable events in their data. This talk is designed to help you gain a better understanding of the methodology behind survival analysis and how it can be leveraged as an approach to improve an existing decline curve analysis (DCA) and reduce prediction error.
