Abstract:
So you’ve heard of craft beer and specialty coffee, but what is craft chocolate?
Come and learn about the chocolate making process from the makers themselves! We will sample handcrafted chocolate, listen to the stories about the farmers, and learn how to identify tasting notes in the chocolate, paired with wine.
Cheese and charcuterie are provided, as well as wine for the pairing.
Each attendee will receive a complimentary hand crafted chocolate bar from McGuire Chocolates. Make sure to take note of your favorite chocolate from the tasting! McGuire Chocolate will also have their bars for purchase afterward – the perfect Valentine’s gift that will make your sweetheart melt.
Seating is limited to 20.
About the Chocolate Maker:
McGuire Chocolate is a Calgary-based bean-to-bar chocolate maker. Our focus is on preparing a simple and high-quality product from the inside out. Most of the chocolate we create is made from only two ingredients; fermented cacao grown by small farmers/profit sharing co-ops and organic cane sugar. Our packaging is locally made with paper from sustainably managed Canadian forests.
Craft chocolate is made through rigorous oversight and a careful blending of cacaos that are processed through a season. As an agricultural product, a variety of growing, processing and mixing conditions affect the flavors and smell of the end product. While mass-produced bars come from companies that use any of the cacao they can get their hands on, craft chocolate makers discard inferior cacao beans. This puts specialty chocolate is in a league of its own when it comes to quality.
