Abstract:

The design and planning of hydraulic fracturing operations start weeks and often months before equipment actually begins to arrive on location. Current horizontal treatments utilize anywhere from 400 to 10,000 tonnes of proppant per well. This makes it critical that the design being pumped is effectively stimulating the reservoir and that the frac is executed as planned. A multi-disciplinary team is required to successfully apply knowledge of both hydraulic fracturing operations and the reservoir factors that will impact treatment. This session will showcase what is required to design, plan and execute a successful hydraulic fracturing treatment.

Speaker Bio:

Dustin Domres is the Lead of Fracture Optimization at Calfrac Well Services. He works with Calfrac’s Asset Enhancement team to provide advanced technical expertise and in-depth analyses to clients in order to progress reservoir understanding and identify optimal completion methodologies. The field, laboratory, and fracture placement experience that he has gained with Calfrac plays an important role in the hydraulic fracture simulation and design work his group completes for Calfrac’s customers.
