Jason Mathews, BSEE

Abstract
Representing BSEE on All Things Safety in the Gulf of Mexico. This presentation covers incident and INC data, Risk Based Inspections, SEMS, and Safety Alerts. The broad focus of this presentation is to reach out to our stakeholders and share recent BSEE trend analysis, safety related data, and discuss what that data is leading the Bureau to be concerned about, or study more, or identify issues that need more work. 

Biography

Mr. Jason Mathews is currently the Chief of the Office of Safety Management (OSM) for the Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement (BSEE), Gulf of Mexico Outer Continental Shelf (OCS) Office - Regional Field Operations, U.S. Department of the Interior, in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Mr. Mathews is responsible for the supervision of all activities related to the review and analysis of operator compliance and incident data and coordination of the BSEE Gulf of Mexico Office's safety efforts. He also directs the review and audit functions of OCS operators’ safety programs.

Mr. Mathews has 15 years of experience with BSEE, including offshore experience in drilling, production, and workover operations in the Gulf of Mexico at the District, Regional, and Headquarters levels. He also represents the agency in multiple API workgroups developing industry standards, recommended practices and technical bulletins.

Mr. Mathews earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Petroleum Engineering from Louisiana State University in 2003. He also serves as a high school football coach at Isidore Newman School in New Orleans, LA.

Abstract

Biography

Mr. Eiland serves as the Vice President of HSER for Fieldwood Energy in Houston, TX.  Mr. Eiland has over 28 years of experience operating in the upstream oil & gas and maritime industries and is a retired U.S. Coast Guard Officer.  Prior to joining Fieldwood Energy he held the positions of Vice President & Principal at Veris Global LLC, Director of HSE for Stone Energy, and HSE Manager for Hornbeck Offshore.  He holds a Master’s of Science in Transportation Management from Florida Institute of Technology and a Bachelor’s of Science in Management/Communications from the University of South Alabama.
