Abstract

A presentation describing and highlighting the benefits and uses of geosteering.  With horizontal drilling technologies continuously evolving, geosteering is a necessary tool used to overcome obstacles faced in unconventional directional drilling.  While providing solutions and techniques that will maximize ROP and proactively aid in the avoidance of troublesome formations (sticky, abrasive, etc.), minimize tortuosity, and boost payzone exposure, geosteering also abets with reservoir characterization and well pad optimization.  This presentation will cover different tool measurements and other data commonly used in geosteering as well as the significance of formation evaluation and log analysis.  In short, geosteering is instrumental in the tasks of increasing efficiencies in drilling, casing operations, and making a more productive well.

Biography
Camden Crowley completed his degree at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering.  Shortly after graduating, he accepted a position with Pathfinder Energy Services as a M/LWD Field Engineer.  After completing nearly all of Pathfinder's internal theory and tool training course offerings and 3 years in the field, he accepted a position as a Well Placement Engineer in the elite PayZone Steering (PZS) group.  As part of this team which supported all PZS field Operations remotely and provided remote geosteering services for multiple clients across NAL he continued to hone his craft.  This group worked closely with the software development team to further improve PZS geosteering software.  Following his time with Pathfinder/Schlumberger, Camden moved on to start a firm with 2 of his former team members in the PZS group aptly named Legacy Steering, LLC.  Up until the end of 2020, Legacy Steering continued to offer geosteering and data analytics services.  Over this time, Camden concurrently worked for various clients providing M/LWD services as a consultant.  In January 2020, Camden joined Gordon Technologies as MWD Field Engineer where he was tasked with aiding in the commercialization of Gordon’s new Azimuthal Gamma Ray tool by providing field testing as well as training of peers.  Near the end of 2021, Camden was introduced to William Hagan, CEO at Stratagraph, through a mutual acquaintance.  After their introduction, William graciously presented Camden an offer to join Stratagraph Geosteering acting as Vice President where he manages operations and the geosteering team.  Camden is a proud father of 3 beautiful children and husband to his devoted wife, Carly.  He enjoys spending his free time with family and friends, attending the kids extracurricular activities, amateur photography, fishing, and making with all things electronic.
