Abstract
This presentation will use a combination of powerpoint slides, pictures, video clips and short stories to challenge traditional safety measures and inspire the audience to Actively CARE.  It will demonstrate the need to shift our focus to Serious Injury and Fatality (SIF) prevention and outline ways to Control and Remove Exposures (C.A.R.E.) that lead to SIF’s.  It will also highlight critical behaviors of senior leaders and supervisors needed to create a Culture of C.A.R.E. 

Biography

Warren is a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland where he earned a BS degree in Marine Engineering.  He served 7-years in the Atlantic Fleet as a Surface Warfare Officer and finally as a naval intelligence briefer in the Atlantic Fleet Command Center in Norfolk, VA.

 

Warren left the Navy in December 1989 and joined Helmerich & Payne International Drilling Co. in January of 1990.  He began his oilfield career as a roughneck in land drilling operations in southeast Oklahoma.  In 1991 he was assigned as Administrative Manager for H&P’s drilling operation in Gabon, West Africa where he lived with his young family.  In 1992 Warren returned to Tulsa and assumed duties as H&P’s Safety Manager for domestic and international operations.  In 1995, he earned formal recognition as a Certified Safety Professional.  In December 2000, Warren was promoted to Vice President of Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) for H&P.  From Sept 2010 to August 2015 Warren’s job duties also included oversight of technical training and professional development at H&P.

 

Warren actively promotes safety across the oil & gas extraction industry.  He has helped kick-off numerous regional upstream O&G safety networks.  In 2012, Warren assumed collateral duties as the Industry Co-Chairman of the Oil & Gas Council for NIOSH’s National Occupational Research Agenda (NORA) aimed at reducing fatalities and improving safety and health performance within the upstream O&G industry. In 2014, Warren was selected to the SPE’s Distinguished Lecturers program for 2015-2016 promoting Making Safety Personal in the Oil & Gas Industry.

Outside of his O&G HSE roles, Warren served on a quarterly basis from October 2015 to June 2018 on Safety and Reliability Review Board for Carnival Cruise Lines along with retired military flag officers, a former member of the NTSB, and former executive for an airlines company with worldwide, global operations.


This will be a joint meeting with AADE Lafayette Chapter who will handle registration.
