Abstract
Competitive bidding is a foundational aspect of oil and gas property evaluation where success often hinges on the ability to uncover and utilize technical edge. This technical edge can take two primary forms. First, it may result in value not accounted for or applicable to your competition. Second, it may serve to protect the company from permanent loss of capital. This presentation provides evidence from an active participant that technical edge is out there and illustrates what it can look like. The examples, techniques, tools, and tips shared in the talk aim to offer optimism in addressing the question: “How can asset sales be won by any E&P company other than the biggest speculator or the most poorly incentivized (E&OPMs)?”
