Abstract
An exploration of ethics from the perspective of a Petroleum Engineer with 36 years of industry experience, including how preparing this discussion made me really think about the subject and what it means to me personally and professionally.
Biography
David Hamilton is currently serving as Wells North Engineering Lead for Denbury Resources. After graduating from Texas A&M in 1983 with a degree in Petroleum Engineering, he worked for a year offshore as a Roustabout for Global Marine Drilling Company, before catching on as an Engineering Tech with Santa Fe Minerals. He eventually worked as an Engineer with Santa Fe Minerals (Texas, Louisiana, Gulf of Mexico, California), followed by engagements with Cox Resources Corp (Louisiana, Texas), Nexen Petroleum (Gulf of Mexico, Louisiana) and now Denbury Resources since 2012 (North Dakota, Wyoming, Montana, Mississippi). He is a Registered Professional Engineer in Texas, Louisiana, California and Wyoming.
He is a long-time member of SPE and has been active in the Dallas Section, including having served as Section Chair 2009-2010, and as Awards Chair for the last several years.
