Young Professionals Luncheon: Geology for Engineers Young Professional Networking Event

Details:

A basic understanding of geology concepts and terminology is indispensable for any young professionals working within the oil and gas industry. In this 101-level lunch and learn, Dr. Russel-Houston will present the basics of petroleum geology and discuss how reservoirs are discovered, delineated, and developed. Using examples from the oil sands, she will show how geologists in collaboration with engineers have solved complex problems and improved reservoir performance.

Dr. Jen Russel-Houston, P. Geol., Vice President, Geoscience at Osum Oil Sands Corporation Prior to joining Osum in 2008, Dr. Jen Russel-Houston worked for Shell on both onshore and offshore projects where she developed expertise in reservoir evaluation, thermal production geology, and leading technical teams. As Vice President, Geoscience she oversees Osum’s geoscience evaluations as they relate to current assets and guides the assessment of future potential opportunities of interest to Osum. Dr. Russel-Houston is an active member of APEGA and is an Associate Editor of the Canadian Bulletin of Petroleum Geology.

Tour and learn about Alberta’s oldest gas plant and the Dingman No. 1 Natural Gas well, followed by a tour of the Eau Claire Distillery. Dinner will be provided on the bus please advise of any dietary restrictions. Cocktails and tasting trays will be available for purchase at $5 each at the distillery.

Please wear weather appropriate clothing and closed toed shoes. The gas plant isn't heated.
