On 01 November 2016, Atheer Al Attar, Hayder Hasani and Yasi Jasim visited the University of Basra, Department of Petroleum Engineering. The group gave a presentation about the benefits of SPE student membership and student chapters and there was a QA session afterwards. The meeting was great and students were very excited to know about the SPE. We have also coordinated with the elected students chapter officer to collect and re-activate the students memberships. We had a meeting with the Department of Petroleum Engineering Faculty Ms. Nuhad and discussed several issues that need to be cleared out for the chapter to be opened.
Later on, we headed to the Oil and Gas University which is located in the Geology Department and we had a long meeting with the dean over there Dr. Firas and he agreed to find a slot for us to present in their coming schedule. We also started working on our Facebook Page and the students created their own Facebook Page as well.
We agreed to have at least bi-monthly meetings and arranged with the Department to have a fixed day of the week where we can present.
