The SPE Stavanger Student Chapter and SPE Diversity & Inclusion Stavanger is launching a mentoring program.
Objectives:
For mentees to develop communication and leadership skills. An opportunity to get career boosting relating advice by means of open lectures and face-to-face conversations.
For mentors to increase professional recognition, strengthening personal branding through SPE Stavanger Social Media, opportunity to develop soft-skills, networking with other professionals.
Target audience (mentees):
2nd - 3rd year of bachelor and 1st year of master
Number of people:
6 mentees, 6 mentors
Duration and terms:
4 months. September to December 2021 (1st edition)
The Mentoring program:
The program will consist of one open lecture a month (digital) and one video-call between mentee/mentor a month (schedule determined by the mentor).
Open lectures:
These lectures will be organized by the D&I committee/Student Chapter. The final schedule
and title of the lectures will be presented to the mentees/mentors in the kick-off meeting of the mentoring program.
Planned schedule:
Sep 2021 Future challenges for the new generation of petroleum engineers.
Oct 2021 CV and cover letter tips with an HR advisor.
Nov 2021 Importance of teamwork and how to become a great team player.
Dec 2021 Work in Norway Video-call topics: on demand, depends on mentors and mentees preferences.
Communication platforms:
Private group and chat in Facebook for the mentees. Interaction between mentees
is encouraged by safe dialogue regarding the lecture topics and overall concerns.
Mentoring progress observation:
Monthly public posts in Facebook/LinkedIn, in diary format, about insights
and lessons learned by the mentees in the program.
Selection process:
For mentees July 2021. The application will be either a cover letter or a motivational video (max 3 min)
