Soft Skills Study Group Tower Hotel, December 8th, 11:30 AM-1:00 PM "Technical Paper Writing and Presentation Skills Refresher" Presented by Chad Senters of CoreLab and Toby Deen of Devon Energy Abstract If you’re unsure on how to write a technical paper or if you just need a refresher, you’ll enjoy this presentation. Both speakers recently presented papers at ATCE and will be sharing their experiences -- ranging from how they chose topics and got internal approval all the way through the final presentation. In addition, we will be covering basic presentation tips that will translate into more effective technical presentations that you can use every day. Biographies Chad Senters is the Region Engineering Advisor for the ProTechnics division of Core Laboratories specializing in completion diagnostics. Chad has 10 years of experience in the oil and gas industry including stimulation, coiled tubing and downhole tools. Chad has recently authored four papers that were presented at the SPE Annual Technical Conference and Exhibition in 2014 and 2015 and is currently working on an approved abstract for the 2016 Hydraulic Fracturing Conference. Chad is a graduate of the Missouri University of Science and Technology (formerly the University of Missouri Rolla) with a BS in Chemical Engineering and currently serves on the SPE OKC Section Board. Toby Deen has worked for Devon Energy in various production, completion and reservoir engineering roles across multiple assets since 2009. He is currently an operations engineer in the Eagle Ford Business Unit and works on special project teams that focus on various topics such as choke management, frac hit mitigation, completion designs and modeling, horizontal refracs and field development strategies. Deen has a BS in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Oklahoma and is a registered professional engineer in the state of Oklahoma. He is currently serving as a Director of the OKC SPE Section and recently published SPE-174831-MS at ATCE in September.
