  • Chairman's Monthly Newsletter - Tyler Conner - December 2018

We are entering the final weeks of 2018 and I hope everyone has had an enjoyable and productive year, and that you were able to spend Thanksgiving with family and friends.  On behalf of the SPE Oklahoma City Section, I want to proffer a heartfelt thank you our many outstanding volunteers, members and sponsors for all your support this year, without which, this section would not be what it is today.

The monthly luncheon will be held a week early this year, on December 13th, to better accommodate holiday travel.  Our speaker will be Steve Bradley with Viking Engineering who will discuss the importance of prudent implementation of defined procurement requirements, inspection requirements and techniques and wellsite installation of OCTGs.  Come join us for the last luncheon of the year.

In 2019, we will continue with a majority of our 2018 programs, and will plan on introducing a few additional offerings.  In one of my previous notes to the section, I mentioned that we would be trialing two new study groups, a Data Science and a Geoscience group.  These trials will occur in the coming year and we hope they will complement our already successful Study Group program.  Additionally, our Community Outreach Chair is working with local organizations to set up further volunteering opportunities for our members next year.  On the topic of community outreach, we are in the midst of planning our 13th Annual Mardi Gras Gala, arguably one of the best events of the year, and will be hosting this on March 1st.  This event is designed to support our local community, in particular, the Willow Springs Boys Ranch, which aids at-risk youths.  It will feature a silent auction, formal dinner, and casino floor during the auctioning.  It has sold out the last several years, so I would encourage you to get your tickets soon!

With that, I would like to wish everyone a very happy and safe holiday and look forward to seeing you all in the New Year.

    Regards,
