Hey everybody!
I will make these chair notes short and sweet (unlike this Corona Virus pandemic has been). I hope you are all staying safe and taking your time with returning to “normal life” as we start going back into the office and get back to our routines. SPEI is providing some opportunities that I want to make sure you are all aware of. The SPE Training and Professional Development portal offers free online training course on the topics of: Completions, Reservoir, Drilling, Production, Operations, Management and Information, Healthy/Safety/Environment and Projects/Facilities/Construction. I encourage all of you to take advantage of this free trainings to brush up your expertise and resumes.
SPEI also has a “Members in Transition Toolkit” with great supportive information, resources and programs to assist during the current downturn. SPE Insurance Program offers health, life, auto and homeowner insurance designed to meet the needs of petroleum engineering professionals. SPE Online Education has webinars, online training course and educational videos. SPE Competency Management Tool can help you assess your readiness for a new role. If you need assistance renewing your SPE Membership, SPEI is waiving renewal fees for those who have lost their jobs during the prolonged downturn. Please visit www.spe.org to view more information and take advantage of these helpful benefits provided to all SPE members in transition. As always, if you have any questions please reach out to me (shahd.tarar@dvn.com). I will be happy to help anyway I can.
We decided to cancel our in-person May events but have planned an online May “Luncheon” and May Study Group. I wish you all well and hope to safely return to our normal routines soon.
Best Regards,
Shahd Tarar
