  • Notes From The Chair - August 2021

    Dear SPE OKC,

I am overjoyed to have seen several of you in person again at our July technical luncheons. We have a fall full of some of our favorite – in person – events and we are thrilled to share them with you.

This Thursday our SPE Young Professionals group has organized the first Business Shower and Happy Hour of the 2021-2022 session. These events are designed to be a way to introduce new ideas and businesses to SPE OKC. Please let Brittany Daugherty know if you are interested in being featured as a new business and we hope to see you at the inaugural event at Roughtail Brewery.

Our August technical program includes the Monthly Luncheon at OKCGCC on August 19th featuring Lance Green of Sales Xceleration will discuss building a better sales structure. The August Completions Study Group at Packard’s will be given by Kourtney Brinkley of DVN and will focus on monitoring fracture propagation through sealed wellbore pressure monitoring (her HFTC paper).

August also brings my personal favorite event – the 15th Annual Masquerade Ball (previously our Mardi Gras Gala) benefitting Willow Springs Boys Ranch of Chandler, OK. I love this event because our Chapter comes together and raises tens of thousands of dollars for WSBR while having one of the most fun nights of the year. Come get dressed up and enjoy a nice dinner, casino games and auction with your SPE friends old and new!

It’s going to be a busy fall with the 15th Annual Sporting Clays Tournament September 17th (contact Phil & Randall) and our family friendly Member Appreciation Event at Chicken N Pickle on September 26th. We’re also excited to bring back the first of the Spirits Tasting events on October 1st starting with scotch (contact Phil Owens again!). Finally, please save the date for the SPE Regional Awards Banquet where we will celebrate 2020 & 2021 awards winners with special guest, SPEI President Tom Blasingame.

We have a fantastic Executive Committee and Committee Chairs volunteering this year who are making all these opportunities possible. I’m grateful for every one of them and for you, our membership, and I look forward to making this SPE OKC’s best year yet.

    Best wishes,

    Emily Brink, EOG Resources
