    Happy December!

Can you all believe 2019 is almost over and 2020 is right around the corner? Time flies, technology is improving, and our industry is not going away anytime soon (we hope)! If you missed Nathan Meehan’s Presentation at our November Luncheon, his top 7 tips for Petroleum Engineers to make it through the Energy Transition is to: development new oil and gas resources that are less carbon intensive, eliminate flaring and methane leakage, remove coal use by dint of economic leverage, find a solution for the need of carbon capture and storage, drive energy efficiencies, leverage big data/AI to efficiently recover discovered resources and develop net zero emissions opportunities for fossil fuels. His presentation was one of our heavily attended Luncheons for a good reason – “The End of Petroleum Engineering as we know it”. We all want to know the future of the Oil and Gas Industry but if you missed the presentation you can download his full paper (SPE-194746-MS) through OnePetro.

This month’s Committee Member Spotlight goes to Caleb Padilla. Caleb planned our recent Happy Hour with the Young Professionals in Energy Group to raise money and collect toys for the Oklahoma City Children’s Hospital. Turnout was better than we expected; were able to donate $1000+ and lots of toys to the Children’s Hospital in hopes of improving the Holiday Season for the kiddos. Caleb has also been our Registration Chair for a while now and has helped us significantly improve the process. Thank you Caleb for your contributions!

This month’s Luncheon we are hosting Dr. Jennifer Miskimins with the Colorado School or Mines. The title of her presentation is “Impact of Landing Interval and Stage Timing on Multistage Horizontal Well Completions: Cas Studies from the DJ Basin”. On Saturday, January 11th, 2020 we will be hosting our very first Cycle Class event! We thought this would be a wonderful way to kick off the new year together. Come out and cycle with us for a 45-minute ride and enjoy a champagne toast and mimosas after the exercise class to cheers the New Year!

I hope everybody had a wonderful Thanksgivings. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

    Best Regards,

    Shahd Tarar
