Hello OKC Section Members,
We have a Distinguished Lecturer, DL, visiting us this month and you have two different opportunities to attend his presentation! The DL is Hassan Dehghanpour of University of Alberta and he will be presenting on EOR While Fracturing: Unconventional Rock-Fluid Interactions. You can watch his presentation at our Monthly Luncheon Thursday, August 15that 11:30AM, located at Will Rogers and/or at our Monthly Tech Talks Wednesday, August 14that 6pm, located at the Oklahoma City Geological Society.
One of my favorite events is coming up and I want to make sure you are aware of this event’s importance and recent changes. The Awards & Recognition Banquet was started in 2016 to properly thank all the companies and people that make our section so successful and active. During this blacktie optional event, we gather to celebrate and recognize the highest contributing companies evaluated by number of volunteers, speakers, authors and sponsorships. We present awards to our SPE Mid-con Winners, SPE International Winners, Authors and OKC Section specific winners. We are excited to host this year’s guest of honor Darcy Spady, 2018 SPEI President. For the past three years we hosted this event at Remington Park, but this year we have decided to move locations to Oak Tree Golf and Country Club. For the first time ever, we are planning to have a live band from 9:00pm to 12:00am. This event will be hosted Friday, September 20thfrom 6:00pm to 12:00am so make sure to mark your calendars!
We have so many other exciting events coming up such as the Welcome to OKC Summer Social on August 8thand Sporting Clays Tournament on the morning of September 20th. The Monthly Study Group will be hosted Tuesday, August 20thon the topic of “How Cloud Technology is Improving the Well Planning Process” by Dan Morrell of Schlumberger. We plan on hosting more social and networking events this year to increase the connections made throughout our Engineering Community.
