Dear SPE OKC Family,
I hope everyone is doing well and staying safe and healthy. As we enter the month of September, we have an exciting lineup of events planned for you. Keeping the health and safety of our attendees in mind, we have decided to host our monthly luncheons and study groups virtually for the next few months. Consequently, here are the upcoming talks in the month of September that will be hosted virtually:
- Thursday, September 17th | September Monthly Luncheon with Muhammad Laghari, Managing Director in Citi’s Global Energy Investment Banking Group
- Wednesday, September 23rd| Geoscience Study Group with Tom Bratton, PhD to discuss Innovations in Geomechanics for Use in Hydraulic Fracturing
We continue to work hard in bringing relevant and high-quality technical content to you even in the current COVID-constrained environment. The high attendance numbers and active participation in these virtual events has been extremely encouraging and we thank you for being a part of these events. SPE OKC is glad to provide its technical programs for free in a virtually accessible setting, in support of our industry during these challenging times. As always, if there is a particular topic that you would like to be covered in one of these talks, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me at danish.tarar@chk.com and we will try our best to get that lined up for you.
In addition, we still plan to host our sporting clays event in person while honoring the social distancing guidelines:
- Friday, September 18th | 27th Annual SPE OKC Sporting Clays Event at Quail Ridge Sporting Clays
We are very excited to host you at this event, which will be our first in-person event in some time. We have had considerable interest in the event with a sizable number of teams already registered. The SPE annual awards banquet previously planned to be held in September this year has been postponed till Spring 2021 to ensure everyone’s safety as we get together to celebrate our numerous award winners. Stay tuned for further details to follow on the new date and location for the banquet.
Last but not least, I encourage you to utilize SPE’s numerous deeply discounted programs that are currently being offered for things like membership renewal and OnePetro subscription for example. These programs have been specifically designed to support our members in transition and also the general membership in light of the current industry downturn. Please find further details of these programs in the newsletter.
I hope everyone has a great labor day weekend and gets to enjoy quality downtime with friends and family.
Warm regards,
Danish Tarar
