There is something about starting a new Chapter that brings excitement and energy into people. Whether that’s starting a new chapter in life, a book or this case SPE! It is with great excitement and energy that I welcome you all into the 2019-20 SPE OKC Year (or chapter)! I am Shahd Tarar and I will be your Section Chairman! A little bit about myself: I graduated from The University of Texas in 2013 (Hook ‘Em Horns) and have been with Devon Energy ever since. Last year, I served as the SPE OKC Oil and Gas Symposium Chairman. I am looking forward to serving as your Chairman this year and hope to meet many of you.
We had an incredible 2018-9 SPE term and I am so proud of the many Committee Members for their outstanding work and dedication. Our biggest accomplishment/success was the biennial SPE OKC Oil and Gas Symposium (April 2019). We had the highest turnout we’ve seen in years and we are so grateful of the support from our engineering community. I would like to thank our Symposium Committee Members, Authors, Sponsors, Exhibitors and Speakers for their outstanding work.
Some of you may be wondering why there hasn’t been any Energy Forum advertising this year. I want to officially inform everybody of our date change. We’ve decided to host the Oklahoma Young Professionals Energy Forum every other year (the years offsetting the Oil and Gas Symposium). We hope this change will allow our volunteers, sponsors, speakers and attendees to better focus on a single large event annually.
We have so many exciting events coming up such as the Welcome to OKC Summer Social on August 8th, Sporting Clays Tournament on the morning of September 20th and Awards Banquet on the evening of September 20th. We plan on hosting more social and networking events this year to increase the connections made throughout our Engineering Community.
