Hi Everyone,
Warm greetings from myself and rest of the SPE OKC Executive Committee to start out the new year. We hope everyone had a great Christmas and a relaxing break. We are excited this year to continue to not only bring our virtual technical program to you, but as COVID situation improves, we hope to eventually start our in-person events, safely and responsibly of course, as we cant wait to see you all. We continue to monitor the situation closely and will keep you updated on any changes in the format of our events, if/when that occurs. For January, we are hosting our Completions Study Group in addition to our luncheon, with both events planned as virtual sessions. Our 20th Annual Pistol League Tournament is planned to be held over the months of January and February with entries being accepted through the registration deadline of Friday, January 8th 2021. - Wednesday, February 24th | February Production Study Group with Russell Stevens and Gary Abdo of US Rod, discussing advancements in sucker rod manufacturing, newly accepted sucker loading factors, material selection and recommended practice for designing deviated wells. I also wanted to provide an update on the status of the 2021 Oklahoma Oil and Gas Symposium, that was planned to be held on April 5th – 9th 2021. SPE OKC has a proud tradition of hosting the Symposium biennially for decades as a premier technical conference. For the past few months, we have had a dedicated committee made up of passionate and brilliant individuals that spent countless hours into evaluating all options for hosting such a conference but after careful deliberation, we have decided to cancel the symposium. We believe it’s the best option that guarantees the safety and health of all our members, attendees and our community. We continue to work hard to find alternatives in the form of conferences/joint events at a latter date to provide further opportunities for technical exchanges, so please stay tuned.
