About the Committee

The Energy Information Committee promotes SPE’s global programs to educate students and the general public on the value that the petroleum industry provides. This committee serves primarily in an advisory role. The Energy Information Committee’s goal is to create targeted materials and programs that provide credible and balanced information to students, teachers and the global public. Members are appointed for up to three-year terms.


Qualifications and Experience

Members should have a demonstrated interested in public energy education through their local section or region.

 
Expected Time Commitment

Participate in two meetings per year — the OTC and ATCE — and two to three teleconferences with other communications handled by email.


Deliverables and Expectations

  • Provide:
    • input and guidance on information SPE should provide to students and the public
    • ideas for new programs that help pre-university students and the public to become informed energy consumers
    • ideas to build awareness about career opportunities
  • Review materials for technical accuracy
  • Make presentations as needed to select audiences on energy education topics
  • Help promote SPE’s energy education programs and initiatives to members and other colleagues
  • Help develop communications strategies and programs 


Application Processing Time

  • Committee members are selected by the SPE President-Elect
  • Applicants will be notified of the outcome by 31 July 2018
