Dear SPE Swiss section
members, Dear Friends,
2015, what a year, so
far!
It all started with a
headache for the oil industry due to a low barrel price, it continued with a
boiling situation on the international terrorism front. The tricky chess game
between Europe and Greece continued, so do the ever so important Iran
negotiations, this to mention only a few key points of this first half of the
year.
An adventurer friend of
mine once said that if you lose faith and you are touching the bottom of the
hole, the good news is, that the only way to recover is upward and that can only
be positive...
2015 has also a lot of
positive aspects and one of them, worth being mentioned here is that SPE Swiss
section is celebrating its 10th anniversary!
Already ten years, time
is running and the moment to celebrate this important milestone for our section
has come.
Ten years ago, when the
founders had this brilliant idea, the section comprised only 44 members and
today we are over 130; a very good number considering the few industrial players
in the area covered by our section.
During these ten years,
the section's activities were marked by an average of six technical meetings,
with a peak of eight in 2011, of which three by Distinguished Lecturers. Beside
these technical meetings, the section also organised a number of field trips,
six in total between the Jura and the Alps. In addition, the projected one for
this year (you will hear from us soon !)
This shows that the Swiss
section, despite its relatively small size is a healthy and active section -
thanks to you, its members !
To mark this
10th anniversary, the board would like to ask the pleasure of your
company on September 17th 2015 in Geneva downtown, for a
cocktail-dinner party and we would be delighted to see you all for this
event.
We are also pleased to announce that Mr Nathan Meehan, 2016 SPE
President and Mr Matthias Meister, SPE Regional Director for South,
Central and East Europe will be joining
us to celebrate this remarkable milestone.
The SPE
Swiss board and myself look forward to meeting you on the 17th of September!
