Norwegian Center for Geothermal Energy Research was established in 2009. The Center has partners from all over Norway and is based in Bergen with Christian Michelsen Research AS (CMR) as the Host Institution. The Center gathers key research and industrial partners within the geothermal energy sector and strengthens national cooperation in research and technology development. The Center covers through its Partners areas such as resource mapping, reservoir characterization, drilling technology, reservoir technology, energy conversion and environmental impact. Geothermal energy as a source of both heating, cooling and power generation is covered by the Center's areas of interest.
Bio Ranveig Nygaard Bjørk:
Ranveig Nygaard Bjørk has more than 12 years of experience from research and development including expert services within the oil and gas business. Furthermore, she has worked within the field of geothermal energy research since 2010 and is currently the general manager of the Norwegian Center for Geothermal Energy Research.
Bio Hanne Wigum:
Hanne Wigum is head of Renewables Research and Technology development in Statoil. She has a PhD and post doc in catalysis from Chemical Engineering at NTNU. In her 15 years in Statoil her focus has been to develop new commercial solutions for a large number of technical areas- from gas to liquids, refining, oil sands and now renewables. Together with her team she is currently focused on developing new profitable solutions for offshore wind, solar and geothermal.
Abstract for Huisman presentation:
We’re currently in the transition from a hydrocarbon based society towards a sustainable energy based society. The promising geothermal industry is relative young and going through a very dynamic development. Much of the needed experience is used from the drilling industry which was primarily developed for the oil & gas industry. Due to the many similarities with the hydrocarbon industry, the differences cause a series of hurdles to be taken to make the geothermal industry successful. The presentation will highlight some of the new and efficient technology to handle the hurdles.
Bio Jan Atle Andresen:
Jan Atle Andresen has 30 years’ experience in the oil business. He has been working within different companies in different positions. The experience includes MWD (Measurement While Drilling) operator with Halliburton and Baker Hughes Inteq, wireline and gyro operator with Gyrodata. Position as Project Manager, Operational manager, and Business development manager with different companies are included in the experience. He has also served 10 years as Director at the SPE Bergen board. The employments with FMC were mainly to introduce and commercial the RLWI (Riserless Well Intervention) operated from a monohull vessel into the market.
Jan Atle is also co-founder of Siem WIS (MPD technology) and was employed as Business Development Manager in the company. In 2013 Huisman open an office in Norway (Bergen) and Jan Atle started as Business development manager drilling with Huisman.
