Amina Oyagbola is a global business leader and the Human Resources Executive at MTN Nigeria Communications Limited. With over 29 years’ experience, her career has spanned legal consulting, banking and finance, oil and gas and telecommunications.

Her career started as a legal practitioner in the prestigious Chambers of late Chief FRA Williams, Nigeria’s first QC (Queen’s Counsel) and foremost legal practitioner. She was employed by Shell Petroleum Development Company to head a new function as Head, HR Strategy, Standards and Business Planning.

Amina’s outstanding educational and professional background made her a natural choice for the role of Corporate Services Executive in MTN Nigeria, Africa’s leading telecommunications provider. As Corporate Services Executive, she had oversight for the company secretariat, regulatory, legal and corporate communications. She was also responsible for driving MTN’s corporate social investment programmes through a strategic partnership approach as pioneer Director of the MTN Foundation, commended by the UN Global Compact for its unique Public Private Partnership Model and the recipient of several awards. In November 2008, she was identified as the most suitable Executive to lead a transformation in the HR Function as Human Resources Executive, MTN Nigeria. During her tenure as HR Executive and the strategic Talent Management Initiatives deployed with her team, MTN Nigeria became the 1st company in Nigeria to be accredited with the Investors in People Gold Standard in May, 2015. In October, 2014, MTN Nigeria emerged winner in the Telecoms category of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria (CIPM) HR Best Practice Awards. MTN Nigeria also emerged as the best telecoms company in Jobberman's best 100 best places to work in Nigeria in 2014. In December 2014, MTN was recognized as the Most Admired and Most Valuable African Brand by Brand Africa 100. MTN Nigeria under her leadership has been nominated as finalist with 5 other Nominees out of over 400 companies worldwide for the 2015 International IIP Awards. In Dec 2015 she bagged Double portfolios as Head Human Resources Divisions & Corporate Services Divisions of MTN Nigeria. Responsible for internal and external stakeholder management issues. Guiding and directing MTNN through the regulatory and legal framework of Nigeria to ensure compliance and managing its stakeholders and ensure the license to operate. Also responsible for good corporate governance corporate communications and establishing and managing the organization’s corporate citizenship image and reputation. Also responsible for overseeing the Human Resources Division of MTN Nigeria.

She is a Fellow and Country Director of The Africa Leadership Initiative – West Africa. A West Africa Fellow of the Aspen Global Leadership Network, a member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management, a member of Women Corporate Directors (WCD) and a Member of the Institute of Directors. She is the Chairperson and Founder of WISCAR (Women in Successful Careers) a not-for-profit, gender empowerment and mentoring initiative for professional career women. She is happily married to Bayo Oyagbola, Managing partner, Oyagbola Chambers and they have 3 young adults.
