The NSW / ACT Section commenced in 1985 and on 19th of August 2015 the NSW/ACT committee will be celebrating the section's 30 year anniversary.
The NSW/ACT section has been active over the last 30 years in promoting and supporting the industry by organising technical talks and symposiums locally while at the same time supporting the UNSW student chapter. Keeping in line with the long standing tradition of the NSW/ACT section of organising technical talks; we will be holding a technical presentation on the day as well by Mr. Geoffrey Cann, National Director, Oil and Gas Deloitte Australia, followed by a social event to help celebrate the anniversary.
Refreshments and drinks will be served after the technical talk.
Abstract:
In early 2015, the oil and gas industry is experiencing another of its major downturn moments. Oil and gas prices are at lows not seen since the financial crisis and the supply demand imbalance was last seen in the late 1980’s. This environment gives rise to dramatic cutbacks in capital, revaluations of balance sheets and assets, layoffs and bankruptcies. The presentation provides an overview of the global oil markets and provides a perspective on what the recovery might entail
Biography:
Geoffrey Cann is the National Director of Oil and Gas in the Brisbane office of Deloitte Australia where he focuses on helping oil and gas, coal seam gas and LNG companies address their growth, talent and productivity challenges. He has twenty-four years of management consulting experience gained through engagements in Australia, Canada, the United States, Hong Kong, China, Korea, Japan and the Caribbean. Geoffrey holds numerous publications to his name, presents regularly on Strategy topics and has been a guest lecturer at the MBA program at the Haskayne School of Business at the University of Calgary. As National Director of Oil and Gas, he is leading Deloitte's services to the natural gas sector in Queensland, Australia, and is supporting Deloitte's gas clients across Australia and the region.
