We held our annual Student Technical Conference on 5th and 6th of November, once more in the oil museum in one of the birthplaces of global oil drilling in Wietze near Celle.
The format was very similar to previous years: Two days jampacked with high-quality presentations by students from around Europe, a keynote and 17 technical posters ranging from topics of geology to those of drilling. We had lots of networking time, several company booths, a very joyful group dinner, and for the first time a Young-Professional Panel on “survival strategies when entering the workforce”.
Overall, it was a great success and we thank all contributors – the students, who truly excelled in both presenting and creating posters (if you don’t believe it, see for yourself next time. The technical content was excellent), the museum staff and the GSSPE organizers (they are all non-paid volunteers and do this because they enjoy it), and also the sponsors, who made the conference financially possible, even during the tough times the industry is experiencing these days.
