Dr. Oris Hernandez

Flow Assurance SPA, BP

Dr. Hernandez received a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from Universidad Simon Bolivar in Caracas, Venezuela.  She has M.Sc and PhD in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Tulsa, with research areas focusing on paraffin deposition and hydrates.

She joined BP in Jan 2007, and worked on a number of different projects, mostly in the GoM.  In 2012 she became the FA team lead of the Flow Assurance Team in GoM Subsea Operations.  Currently she is the Western Hemisphere Flow Assurance SPA in the centrally managed Flow Assurance Team in BP.

Abstract

After a tough year in GoM, BP decided to establish a permanent Flow Assurance Team to support GoM Operations in 2012.  The goal of this talk is to have an open discussion about key lessons from 5 years in operations, best practices, difficult challenges that we have been facing, and how we are evolving as a discipline to cope in the current business environment. Career advice will also be "sprinkled" throughout the talk.
