There is no doubt that the future of the oil and gas industry is in the area of tight and unconventional fields.  The potential of the unconventional is massive.  However, the approach and the skills needed to exploit these types of reservoirs are much different than what the industry is used to. Proper understanding of their characteristics and how to evaluate the commercial viability of these reservoirs is a good start. This presentation will cover the following topics:

  • Why the unconventional is different than the conventional.
  • What are the main parameters to conclude commerciality and how to evaluate them
  • The tools used in evaluating the performance of unconventional reservoirs, including DFIT and RTA.
  • Case study
