Rick Farmer
Warren R. “Rick” Farmer IV is currently the Supervising Engineer for his company, Double R Engineering, LLC. He graduated from Mississippi State University in 1982, with a BS in Petroleum Engineering.
Late in his career following the Deepwater Horizon Incident, he returned to the books and studied to became a Registered Professional Engineer in the State of Louisiana.
He has lectured at LSU, ULL, UNO, and Nicholls State and has taught classes in the Engineering Department of UNO. He is currently is an Industry Professor in the Department of Petroleum Engineering at ULL and taught classes in Introduction to Petroleum Engineering, Introduction to Subsea Engineering and Advanced Wellbore Construction.
He served two terms as National President of the American Association of Drilling Engineers (AADE), a three term National Director of AADE and as a Director for the Lafayette Chapter of AADE. He previously served as the 1st Vice President and the President of the New Orleans Chapter of AADE. He currently serves the National AADE Board as the Steering Committee Chairperson.
Rick is a 39 year member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers, and is currently serving Second Year Director on the Evangeline Section Board and previously served as a Director on the Delta Section Board.
He has also served several years on the Deepwater Symposium Committee in New Orleans, the AADE National Fluid and Technical Conference Committees and currently has memberships in AADE, SPE, ASME, NACE, AAPG, SEG, ASM, ARMA, LES, and the AACE.
He has served on several Committees for API/Offshore Operating Group (OOC) related to BSEE Well Control Rules, the PE/Cement/11D1 Committee and the Drilling Margin Committee.
