“Can the U.S. Dominate Energy?”

Biography:

Joe Leimkuhler is the Vice President of Drilling for LLOG Exploration based in Covington, Louisiana. Joe is responsible for all Drilling and Completion Operations and Well Engineering for LLOG. Prior to joining LLOG in early 2012 Joe was the Offshore Well Delivery Manager for Shell International E&P Co, (SIEP) covering all Gulf of Mexico well operations for all Semi-Submersible and Drillships. Prior to the SIEP role, Joe served in a similar role as the Offshore Well Delivery Manager for Shell E&P – Americas, covering all TLP, Platform and Jack-Up based offshore well operations in the Americas.

Prior to taking on a management role, Joe served as the Project Drilling Engineer for the Mars development, and as an instructor at Shell’s Bellaire Research Center in Houston, where he taught Shell’s Drilling Engineering classes.

Before working for Shell Joe worked for M-I Drilling Fluids in the Wyoming Overthrust belt and for ARCO in Drilling and Reservoir engineering in Bakersfield California.

Joe graduated from the University of Montana in 1981 with BS degrees in Geology and Forestry; in 1987 he graduated from the University of Wyoming with a MS in Petroleum Engineering.

Joe serves on the National Board of Directors for the American Association of Drilling Engineers, and served as the National President of AADE from 2007 to 2009. He has served as either Chair or Co-Chair of the GOM Deepwater Technical Symposium for the years, 2010-2015. Joe is a 30 year member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers, and also serves on various University Engineering Advisory boards focused on Petroleum Engineering. Joe and his wife Stephanie live in Mandeville, La, they have two grown children and 6 grand children.

$25 member, $30 non-member, if register before midnight on October 16 and select pay at door.  Note the email invoice will show $20 or $25, $25 or $30 will be charged at the door.
$30 if no preregistration.
