SPE Duliajan Section proudly organized its inaugural SPE DISTINGUISHED LECTURER PROGRAM (DLP) on 16 September 2012 in Zaloni Club Auditorium, Duliajan. The event began with the ceremonial lighting of lamps by the visting dignitaries and functional directors of Oil India Limited.
Shri B. N. Talukdar, Director - Exploration and Development, Oil India Limited and Section Chairperson of SPE New Delhi section, expressed immense pleasure on having the benign presence of the esteemed guests and SPE members. Similar sentiments and thoughts were also echoed by Shri S. Rath, Director – Operations, OIL and Shri K. K. Nath, Resident Chief Executive, OIL. The 150-odd audience was then addressed by the Section and Program Chairpersons, who also kicked off the talk session. The speaker on this occasion, Mr. Robert Sutton, Senior Technical Consultant, Marathon Oil Corporation, delivered a highly informative talk on the topic - ‘Understanding Liquid Loading Will Improve Well Performance’. The lecture threw light on understanding the reason for this phenomenon and ways to mitigate the liquid loading problem which is often faced by the gas fields of Oil India Limited.
The momentous event was graced by 2012 President of SPE International and Vice-President, Global Advisor and Fellow of Chevron Energy Technology Co., Dr. Ganesh C. Thakur. After the Distinguished Lecture, Dr. Ganesh Thakur delivered a talk on the SPE organization and its activities and achievements. He also urged young professionals and geoscientists to actively participate and contribute in the section's activities and to reap the wide array of benefits by enrolling themselves as active members of SPE. He expressed his kind sentiments on the impressive forays made by SPE Duliajan Section so far, and inspired all of us to strive for even greater success in our future endeavours. His thoughts were appreciated by all our functional directors, who were also pleased by the progress made by the Section and wished to see more ground being broken in future.
The evening was followed by an informal get-together in which a cultural show was organized to portray the rich culture of the region. Dinner was served after the cultural show, for all the visiting dignitaries, members and their spouses.
