The 2018 SPE Annual Technical Conference and Exhibition (ATCE) will be held in Dallas on September 24-26.  The deadline for turning in abstracts to be considered for the Technical Program is January 29th, 2018.  This presents a unique opportunity for Dallas-Fort Worth area SPE members to attend and present a paper at the Society’s premier technical conference.  However, to do so you must submit an abstract, and get it accepted.  This presentation will review the “Call for Paper” process and provide tips for writing the abstract, paper and presentation.  A similar talk has been given in the SPE Pavilion at ATCE the past couple years, and should prove helpful for those that would like to write a paper for this or any other SPE conference in the future.  Ample time will be given for Q&A.

Terry Palisch is the Global Engineering Director for CARBO Ceramics in Irving.  Prior to his 13 years with CARBO, he spent 14 years at ARCO Oil & Gas.  He has served the Dallas Section in various Board capacities, including Section, Program and Education Chairman, and is currently a Director-at-Large.  He also has served SPE at the national level, including the SPE ATCE Program committee for the last 10+ years.  He was most recently the 2017 Technical Program Chair, and is currently the 2018 Program Co-Chair.  He has written over 40 SPE papers, and evaluated 100’s of abstracts.  Terry has been awarded the SPE Mid-Con Region Completions Optimization & Technology Award, as well as the Regional Service Award.  He holds a BS in Petroleum Engineering from Missouri S&T (formerly the University of Missouri – Rolla).
